Company Shortcuts/MOT is a web application with a set of automatically marked questionnaires for the assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of businesses.

Business: The initial brief for MHN was to develop an assessment form in a web format. However, it was found that it was quite complicated to have a web format automatically calculate results. The solution that was ultimately developed to resolve this issue, enabled The core aspect of this was to use questions from experienced personnel, enabling them to add their own content. MHN was involved from design to completion and then handed over a web development company to take it over from there. The first stage was determine spec, then drawing up initial design to see the problems associated with design and then integrating all that information together. Rapidly able to deliver on specs and allowing them to come to market sooner. Initially people submitted questions and they needed to be added by technical team, but the application cut out the middle man and enabled users to input their own questions, thus saving a lot of time and money.

Technology: The Company MOT application is written in Ruby on Rails. It allows the creation of questionnaires through the use of an online Google Spreadsheet. A simple spreadsheet template is filled in with questions, types of question, possible answers and score formulae, this is then queried by the application to create a simple web form to be filled in by any number of users for which the scores are automatically calculated.
