The Island GIS platform is a server based application that provides mapping solutions for companies who deal with large scale operations in construction, or infrastructure building. Using the application, managers in such companies are able to oversee construction sites across the country, reviewing progress and sharing information across their teams, through uploaded maps on the server.
Business: The client approached MHN with the initial idea of extending their software services via the internet. MHN provided a swift delivery of design and integration of the ESRI software into a web platform, thus enabling the client to stabilize their customer service base.
Technology: MHN built a secure web portal to support ESRI, a mapping application that had previously only been accessible as a standalone unsecured webpage. Through MHN's work, the mapping software now also sends separate hourly email notifications from each registered vessel making the tracking of their live locations easier. These notifications are then converted from decimal degrees to UTM co-ordinates, which in addition to the vessel name, can be read into a GeoRSS feed. The software is embedded into a web based platform, increasing its accessibility and providing news and feedback capabilities.
